Senior members of the DeKalb County Tiger soccer team include Rene Betancourt, Jackub Osment, Juan Oliva, Axel Rico, Will Stephens, Wesley Carpenter, Luke Bryant, Ealy Gassaway, Andrew Fuson and Parker Gassaway.

The DeKalb County soccer team ended the regular season strong, winning their last five games as they set the tone for the beginning of the district tournament that kicks off in Crossville Tuesday night.

The late season run comes after they were able to muster just one win during the first month of the season. However, beginning with their 7-0 whitewashing of Upperman on April 18, the Tigers have been perfect. They followed the Upperman district win with a 2-0 win at Stone and a 2-1 victory over White County. They then returned home for a rare back-to-back in the friendly confines of Smithville, beating Lebanon 9-3 before capping the season with a 4-0 shutout of Smith County.

The strong finish leaves the Tigers at 6-5-2 overall and 2-2 in the district. They will play Livingston at Stone Memorial May 7 in the two-versus-three game at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the finals Thursday night at Stone. A win in the first round will send DeKalb to regionals but a loss will end their season. In their only other meeting, Livingston beat DeKalb 5-4 after the game went to penalty kicks following a scoreless overtime period.
