Tigerettes 1-1 in tourney play
Ladies take Smith County 10-5, fall to Upperman, 10-8

The Tigerette Softball team is now 1-1 in district tournament play, after defeating Smith County 10-5 Friday night, and falling to Upperman Monay night, 10-8. In the Friday contest DeKalb scored one run in the second inning, two in the fourth, and seven in the sixth.Smith managed one run in the first inning and four in the fourth.Josie Culwell put in three and two-thirds innings on the mound, allowed five hits, struck out four batters, and gave up six walks.Olivia Norton pitched the remaining three and one-third innings, threw three strikeouts, and walked two. Alex Meadows hit a single and batted in two runs, Brooke Hutchings hammered a double, and Tiffini Hendrixson smacked a single and a double.Taylor Monette put in a single and a double for the Tigerette offensive effort, Hannah Green hit a double and had two RBIs, and Annieka Norton swatted a single.In the Tigerettes Monday night loss to Upperman in Baxter, Dekalb scored two runs in the first, two in the second, two in the third, and two in the seventh.Upperman scored four runs in the first, two in the third, two in the sixth, and added two more in the seventh.Losing pitcher Josie Culwell gave up 10 runs, 10 hits, 2 struck out two batters, and walked two.
