With a 4-0 victory over the visiting Cannon County Lionettes Thursday night, the DCHS Tigerette softball team began District 8-AA play with a bang.Senior Aneika Norton blasted a two-run homer in the second inning to give DeKalb an early 4-0 lead.Shauna Taylor pitched a gem, scattering three hits while surrendering one walk over seven innings.Having Taylor's back, DeKalb's defense made out after out, committing just one error.Cannon's only scoring threat came in the top half of the third inning when the Lionettes had two singles, but some stellar play by the Tigerettes allowed Taylor to work out of the inning.The 8-5 Tigerettes will be back in action Thursday when taking on the Upperman Lady Bees in Baxter. First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
