The DCHS Tigerette softball squad laid an 11-0 beating on Smith County on March 31 in Smithville.

 

The Tigerettes put two runs on the scoreboard in the second inning, three runs in the third, and six runs in the fourth to clinch the district victory. The Tigerettes posted 11 hits and committed no errors, while the Owls managed only two hits and put three errors on the books.

 

Winning pitcher Kayley Caplinger had 10 strikeouts in the contest.

 

Tyra Graham, Loren Cripps, Dani Meadows, Hannah Walker and Maddie Dickens all singled for DeKalb, while Myranda Bailiff hit two one-baggers. Tyra Graham, Kayley Caplinger, and Myranda Bailiff all doubled for the Tigerette offensive effort, While Loren Cripps put in a triple.

 

The ladies from DeKalb then faced The Upperman Lady Bees in Baxter on April 2, again shutting out the competition, this time by a score of 3-0.

 

The Tigerettes scored the winning three runs on five hits, and made two errors. Upperman was put three hits on the books, while committing no errors.

 

DeKalb scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third, and Kayley Caplinger was the winning pitcher in the game, with six strikeouts to her credit.

 

Singles: Tyra Graham, Loren Cripps, Katie Hall and Lexi Bates all singled for the Tigerettes, while Graham put in a double.

 

The ladies will face Central Magnet in the ‘Boro on April 9 at 4:30 p.m., will play in the Plateau Invitational in Crossville on April 10-11, and will travel to Macon County on April 14 to play at 4:30 p.m.
