The Tigerettes didn’t let Central Magnet stick around Monday night as they repelled their visitors from Murfreesboro, beating them 11-1 in their home opener.

The DeKalb girls, coming off a blow out at Warren County last week were looking to right the ship. It didn’t take long to accomplish the goal as they went up 5-0 in the first inning and kept pilling it on, scoring in every inning but the fifth on the way to the blowout win. Meanwhile, Magnet mustered just one run in the second as they were outhit on the evening, 14 to 6.

Emme Colwell went most of the way from the circle, hurling four innings for the Tigerettes. She surrendered five hits and gave three free passes while fanning four batters.

Madison Whitehead came on in relief and pitched two innings, fanning three while giving up one hit and one walk.

From the plate the Tigerettes were ferocious. Jacey Hatfield was a perfect three-for-three with the stick, scoring three runs. Megan Walker went three-for-four and smacked a home run. She was credited with two RBIs. Ellie Cripps also stepped up, going two-for-three at the dish, batting in three runs. Maddison Parsley was two-for-three while scoring two runs. Meanwhile, Kenzie France smacked a home run on the way to going two-for-four.

As for base thievery, Jacey Hatfield made the most wanted list as they stole four bases in the Tigerette win.

The win puts the Tigerettes at one up and one down on the young season.
