Tigerettes shut down Lady Dragons

The DeKalb County Tigerettes hosted York Institute in a double header on April 7, defeating the Lady Dragons 17-2 in the first game and 7-0 in the second contest.

 

The Tigerettes scored 17 runs on 22 hits and committed one error in the first match, while York put only two runs across on three hits and committed no errors. DeKalb opened up hot, scoring nine runs in the first inning, backing it up with five runs in the third, and putting three runs more runners across the plate in the fourth. The Lady Dragons two runs both came in the second inning.

 

Kayley Caplinger, took the win on the mound with five strikeouts.

 

Tyra Graham belted two singles and a double for the Tigerettes offensive effort, while Loren Cripps, Kayley Caplinger, Lexi Bates and Dani Meadows hit three singles each. Katie Hall and Hannah Panter put two singles each in, and Myranda Bailiff, helped out with a single and a double, and Hannah Walker dropped a single in.

 

The Tigerettes took the second game as well, this time shutting York out 7-0. DeKalb scored one run in the first inning, five runs in the third, and another in the fourth.

 

DeKalb County took the win with seven runs on nine hits, committing no errors. Winning pitcher Kayley Caplinger struck out eleven Lady Dragons holding them to two hits.

 

Tyra Graham slapped a double and two singles for DeKalb, and Myranda Bailiff hit two singles in the game. Loren Cripps, Dani Meadows, Kayley Caplinger and Lexi Bates all put singles in.

 

The DeKalb ladies traveled to Murfreesboro on April 9, to continue thrashing every opponent in sight, shutting Central Magnet down 11-0.

 

The Tigerettes scored eleven runs on eleven hits, committing one error. Winning pitcher Kayley Caplinger held Central Magnet was held to one hit, and struck out six.

 

DeKalb put five runs across in the third inning, one in the fourth, and five in the fifth.

 

Loren Cripps, Dani Meadows, Kayley Caplinger, Katie Hall, Myranda Bailiff, Allison Maynard, and Lexi Bates each belted a single, While Hannah Walker singled twice, and Tyra Graham had a single as well as belting a grand-slam homerun.

 

The Tigerettes will face Livingston in DeKalb at 4:30 on April 16, then will travel to Warren County to meet the Lady Pioneers on April 21 at 4:30 p.m.
