The DCHS Tigerette softball team put an 11-0 beating down on Smith County Lady Owls Tuesday in Smithville.
DeKalb blasted out eight runs in the first inning to take an early advantage, and added three more on the third before the mercy rule was invoked in the fifth inning. DeKalb County scored 11 runs on 12 hits and committed no errors.
Winning pitcher Kayley Caplinger held the Lady Owls to two hits, striking out eight batters, and the team from Carthage put two errors on the books.
Caplinger smacked a double and two singles for the Tigerettes as well, while Joni Robinson ripped a double and a homerun.
Lexie Bates swatted two singles, Kenzie France, and Allison Maynard ripped a double each, and Myranda Bailiff, Kristina Bain, and Maddison Parsley all singled.
The Tigerettes host Warren County at 4:30 p.m. on April 7, and will meet York Institute in Smithville at 4:30 p.m. on April 11 before traveling to Murfreesboro to play Central Magnet at 4:30 p.m. on April 13.
