After an up and down start, the Tigerettes are on a three game tear, posting wins over rivals York, Upperman and Watertown in consecutive nights.
After polishing off York 12-2, the DeKalb girls traveled to Upperman and stuck it to their district foe, topping them, 13-3. The Tigerettes took the early advantage, outscoring their hosts 4-2 in the opening frame. That would set the tone for the game as Dekalb outhit the Lady Bees 14 to seven on the day and were aided by four Upperman errors in the field. Leading the charge for DeKalb was Emme Colwell who went four-for-five, including two doubles as she batted in one and scored a run herself. She also did it from the field, going all seven innings from the circle.
Meanwhile, Kenzie France went just one-for-four but that one is still in orbit as it was a homerun blast. She registered an RBI and scored two runs. Madison Whitehead was three-four-four and knocked in two runs while Megan Walker joined the multi-hit club going two-for-four from the dish, knocking in a run and scoring two. She also stole a base.
While controlling the game most of the way, up 5-2 in the fourth, the game was put on ice in the top of the seventh when the hit parade got going with the Tigerettes scoring eight runs. Maddison Parsley was one-for-three with the stick but lead her team with three RBIs and three runs scored.
The streak continued Wednesday when the Tigerettes returned home to claim a win over Watertown.
DeKalb went up 3-1 in the first and then 5-2 by the third. They would make it 7-4 by the fifth but Watertown was able to plate two runs in the top of the sixth to make it interesting going into the bottom of the sixth where the Tigerettes would response with one of their own. Watertown was unable to erase the deficit in the top of the seventh giving DeKalb the 8-6 win.
Kenzie France got the win from the circle, working five innings, giving up four runs while fanning one and walking three. Madison Whitehead worked an inning, giving up two runs. Emme Cowell also took the circle for an inning and was credited with the save.
From the dish, Emme Colwell and Megan Walker both had home runs. Cowell, Walker, Whitehead and France all had a pair of hits in the effort.
In the end, DeKalb outhit Watertown 11-10. Both teams were charged with three fielding errors.
