White County got white washed Monday night as the Tigerettes returned home after a challenging tournament in Chattanooga to take their frustrations out on the team from Sparta, 12-0.
The Tigerettes, who played a murder’s row of state-ranked teams during the tourney at Warner Park over the weekend, was able to wrestle a win over McMinn County and battled high touted Whitwell to a 3-2 loss in their last game.
It was all business Monday as the softball squad gave no quarter to Sparta as they scored five in the first, three in the second and four in the third to leave no doubt. The Tigerettes outhit their visitors 11 to 2 as Emme Colwell went two-for-three with a homerun. As if that wasn’t enough, she pitched five innings and fanned five Lady Warriors from the circle. She was joined in the multiple hit club by Megan Walker, Maddison Parsley, Joni Robinson and Kenzie France, all of whom had two hits on the day. Colwell, Walker and France shared honors when it came to batting in runs as the trio had a three RBIs apiece. Megan Walker, Maddison Parsley and Jacey Hatfield all stole bases during the rout.
With the win, the Tigerettes are set up nicely for a second place district finish as a new seeding system may leave them stuck behind the eight ball this post season when it comes to usurping the top seed for the district tournament.
