Tigerettes win two in tournament

The DeKalb County Tigerettes had a busy week with games in Cannon and Smith counties, as well as a tournament in Coffee County. 
The team traveled to Woodbury on Tuesday, April 23, where a game against rival Cannon County came down to the seventh inning. 
Both Cannon and DeKalb came in with one run in the first inning, but the Tigerettes took the lead in the second with a 3-1 score.  Cannon bounced back, however, scoring one run in the third inning, and another in the fourth.  The game came down to the seventh when Cannon County sealed the deal with a run in the bottom of the inning. 
The Tigerettes scored a total of three runs on six hits with five errors.  Cannon scored four runs on seven hits and no errors.  DeKalb’s pitcher, Lauren Colwell, struck out three, while Cannon’s pitcher, Kristen Hale, struck out nine. 
DeKalb’s Annieka Norton and Danielle Tyson each recorded a single in the game while Dani Meadows took one single and a double. Tyra Graham took two singles during play. 

On Thursday, the Tigerettes traveled to Carthage in Smith County where they defeated the Owlettes 4-3.
During the game DeKalb scored four runs with six hits and no errors while Smith County scored three runs on 10 hits and no errors. The Owlettes took the early lead, scoring their three runs in the bottom of the third quarter, but the Tigerettes bounced back, taking the lead and sealing the win with four runs in the seventh.

Danielle Tyson, Loren Cripps, Tyra Graham, and Chelsey Brannon each took a single in the game, while Abbey Caldwell took a double as well as a three-run homer in the seventh inning.
On Friday the Tigerettes traveled to Manchester where they won both games in the Coffee County Tournament. 
In the first game, the Tigerettes took on Warren County, defeating the local rival with a 14-0 score.  DeKalb scored 14 runs on 16 hits with no errors.  Warren was scoreless with one hit and two errors.  The Tigerettes took the lead with one run in the second inning and never looked back.  The team scored nine runs in the third inning and another four in the fourth. 
Annieka Norton, Chelsey Brannon, and Abbey Caldwell each recorded one single and a double in the game, while Tyra Graham, made three singles.  Danielle Tyson, Lauren Colwell, and Loren Cripps each made one single during the game, and Dani Meadows and Taylor Monette each took two singles. DeKalb pitcher Danielle Tyson recorded two strike outs in the game. 
In the second game the Tigerettes once again held their opponent scoreless, beating St. Agnes 10-0,
DeKalb scored three runs in the first inning, three in the second, and four in the third. The team scored 10 runs on 10 hits with no errors, while St. Agnes was held scoreless with one hit and three errors.
Danielle Tyson, Chelsey Brannon, Taylor Monette, and Lindsey Taylor each made a single I the match up, while Abbey Caldwell took a double.  Tyra Graham got two singles and one triple during play, and Annieka Norton made one single and a triple. Tigerettes pitcher Shauna Taylor struck out three.
The district tournament begins next Friday at Baxter.
