The DeKalb County Tigerettes softball team continued to destroy all comers last week, taking Central Magnet down 17-2 on March 22, defeating Macon County 10-1 on March 25, and dominating a double header against White County Monday afternoon.
The Tigerettes traveled to Murfreesboro last Tuesday to face CM. DeKalb scored 17 runs on 15 hits, committing one error. Central Magnet scored two runs on three hits, with six errors.
DCHS scored two runs in the first inning, put five across in the second, four in the third, one in the fourth, and five in the fifth inning. Central Magnet scored two runs in the third inning.
Winning pitcher Kayley Caplinger struck out 13 CM batters. Caplinger also belted two doubles and a triple for the Tigerettes.
Myranda Bailiff hit a single and two doubles, while Tyra Graham Katie Hall belted a single and a double each. Maddie Dickens dropped two singles in, and Dani Meadows, Hannah Walker and Hanah Panter all singled
The Tigerettes then traveled to Lafayette Friday night to hand out a 10-1 beating.
DeKalb scored 10 runs on 13 hits, committing no errors. Macon County scored one run on six hits and made one error.
The Tigerettes scored twice in the first inning, once in the second, three times in the third and three more in the fourth, and added one more run in the sixth inning. Macon scored one run in the second inning.
Kayley Caplinger took another win from the mound, hitting a homerun, and a single as well. Katie Hall belted a homerun, two singles and a double.
Tyra Graham and Allison Maynard hit two singles each, and Dani Meadows, Hannah Walker and Myranda Bailiff added singles.
In the first game against White County Monday at DCHS, the Tigerettes took the Lady Warriors down 5-0.
DeKalb scored a run in the first, two in the second, and two in the fourth. The Tigerettes scored five runs on seven hits, committing one error. Graham hit a single and a triple for DeKalb, while Caplinger and Bailiff added two singles each, and Walker put in a one-bagger.
Caplinger took another win, pitching a no-hitter and striking out eight Lady Warriors.
White had no runs on no hits, with three errors.
In the second game of the home stand, DeKalb pulled out the stops, taking the Lady Warriors down hard in a 12-2 game.
DCHS scored four runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third, and three more in the fourth for the win. White managed two runs in the fifth.
The Tigerettes scored 12 runs on 10 hits, committing one error. White County scored twice on three hits, committing four errors in the contest.
Graham pounded out two doubles and a single in the game. Caplinger and Allison Maynard both doubled, while Bailiff hit two singles and Hall, Panter and Maddie Dickens singled.
Caplinger recorded yet another win, striking out eight Lady Warriors in the process.
The Tigerettes will host Livingston Academy at 4:30 p.m. today (March 30) at DCHS, then will travel to Cannon County tomorrow (March 31) to meet the Lionettes at 4:30 p.m. DeKalb will travel to Warren County on Friday (April 1) to face the Lady Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. More on these games in next week’s Review.
