It was a light week for basketball last week with only the DeKalb County High School teams playing a couple of games. The Tigers traveled to Murfreesboro to take on Providence Christian Academy on Tuesday, while the girls did the same on Friday. Both games would go down as losses for DeKalb.

On Tuesday, November 21, the Tigers were on the hardwood in Murfreesboro as they took on PCA. Things would get out of hand quickly for DeKalb, and they would stay behind the whole match.

The Tigers scored 12 points in the first period, with a pair of two-point baskets each by Jordan Parker, Alex Antoniak, and Conner Close. PCA would jump out with a big 20-point lead.

DeKalb would add eight points to the board in the second period, with Seth Fuson hitting a pair of two-point shots and a free throw, Close a two-pointer, and Parker a free throw. PCA came away with 20 points and the 49-20 halftime lead.

The Tigers put 16 points on the board in the third period. Parker had a two-pointer, a three-pointer, and three free throw points, while Jon Hendrix added a two and a three-point shot. Close also had a three-point basket. PCA kept rolling with 22 points and a 71-36 lead.

Parker sank three two-point baskets for the Tigers in the fourth, while Hendrix and Ian Colwell each had a three-point shot. Close and Owen Snipes each sank a two-pointer. PCA ended with 11 more points and the 82-52 win.

Parker was the top scorer for the Tigers with 19 points, while Close came away with 11. Hendrix had eight points, Fuson five, Antoniak four, Colwell three, and Snipes two.

On Friday, the Lady Tigers had a much closer game, falling to PCA 45-42. The game would remain close throughout most of the game, with Ella VanVranken scoring 20 for DeKalb, while her sister Chloe came away with 12 points. Avery Agee had eight points in the game while Tess Barton hit a two-point basket.

For Providence Christian Academy, Daisy Gale and Kayte Bjornstand each had 13 points, Ambria Frerkany had eight, Gabby DeBord had four, Allie Melton had three, and Cora Beth Millar and Briley Renfrow each had two points
