The Tiger losing streak has been replaced by a winning streak as the DeKalb boys have become road warriors, winning a second straight game on the road, this time defeating Smith County, 78-51.

Their win comes a few days after they snapped a two-month-long losing streak by beating Macon County, 61-49 in Lafayette. Prior to that time their last win was a 103-65 boat-racing of Van Buren County on Nov. 17.

As was the case in the Macon win, Nathan Atkins came to play in Smith County as he scored 19 to lead his squad in scoring. The key to the win came in the second quarter as the Tigers erased a one-point deficit and blew past their hosts to take a commanding 35-21 into half-time. Atkins was joined by fellow hot-hand, Tanner Poss who had 16 points on the night.

The Tigers stretched their advantage to 20 by the end of the third, as Dakota White got involved with 11 points while Dallas Cook added five in the second half run.

The win put DeKalb at 2-5 in the district and 3-16 overall going into York Friday night for their next district tilt. They lost by 16 in their first meeting in Smithville.
