Tigers fall short, making early exit in tourney

The DeKalb County Tigers made a quick exit in the district tourney, first losing to Smith County 9-6, then losing to Livingston Academy 17-9.
In the Smith County, game, the Tigers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the inning coming off an RBI single from Cody Puckett
The Owls would surpass that feat by scoring four runs in the inning, giving them a 4-1 lead.
DeKalb would again score a run in the second inning, this time coming from the bat of  Devin Summers as he  drove in a run with a line drive to centerfield.
DeKalb’s defense would recover well after the four-run outburst in the first inning by not allowing a hit in the second. The Tigers would again score in the third inning, this time bringing in two runs to tie up the score.
The Tigers again shut out the Owls for a second consecutive inning, only allowing two hits.
The Tiger wouldn’t have any success in the fourth at bat or at the mound as the Owls  managed to drive in two runs and regain the lead.
In the fifth inning, it was a stalemate for both teams as neither would allow a run. DeKalb got back into form in the sixth inning when they ripped the Owls’ pitcher for two runs, one run coming from Graham and one run coming from Cook.
The Owls would answer back with two runs of their own, giving them a three-run lead over the Tigers. The Owls would go on to win the ball game by a final score of 9-6
The Tigers’ hitters were  Steven Howell with a double, Hunter Graham three singles and Cody Puckett, Seth Stanley, Devin Summers and Dustin Cook, all with singles.
The losing pitcher for DeKalb was Steven Page as he gave up seven runs, four earned, and eight hits through four innings. He struck out four batters and walked three.
Devin Summers went in for two innings, gave up two runs, one earned, one hit and struck out four.
In the loss to Livingston Academy, the Tigers came out swinging as they started the game with a three-run inning while holding Livingston to just one.
In the second inning, both teams were able to bring in one run to make the score 4-2 DeKalb. The Tigers began to pull away in the third as they added four more runs to their total while not allowing the Wildcats to score.
In the fourth, the Tigers only managed one run while allowing the Wildcats to bring in three runs. DeKalb was still sitting on a comfortable 8-5 lead.
The fifth inning, DeKalb was scoreless for the first time in the game. Livingston would capitalize with an explosive six-run inning, blasting past the Tigers for an 11-8 lead.
The troubles for the Tigers would continue as they were again shut out in the inning and also allowed Livingston to add another five runs to their tally.
 The Tigers would not score again in the game and went on to lose as the Wildcats topped off their blow-out win with an additional run in the seventh to make it a 17-9 victory.
The losing pitcher for the Tigers was Steven Howell as he gave up nine runs, eight earned, on six hits. He struck out three and walked five through four and a third innings.
John Roller went two innings and gave up seven runs, five earned, on nine hits and struck out one.
Chase Hoke went two-thirds of an inning, gave up one run on two hits and struck  out one.
Hitters for the Tigers were Devin Summers with a double and a single; Hunter Graham had two doubles and a single; Seth Stanley a double; Alex Hall a double; Steven Howell had two singles and Daniel Stanley; Evan Curtis and Stephen Page all had singles.  Congratulations to the Tiger baseball team on a winning season.
