Tigers fall to Wildcats and Dragons

The DeKalb County Tigers basketball team had a tough week, battling the Wildcats at home, then going on the road to face the Dragons. Neither match would turn out the way Tiger fans had hoped for.

 

On Jan. 20, the Tigers were at home where they took on the Livingston Academy Dragons. It would be a battle for the Tigers right from the start.

 

The Tigers scored nine points in the first period, with Isaac Beck getting a three-point basket and a two-pointer, while Justin Bone got two free throw shots and a two-pointer. Livingston jumped out with the lead, taking 18 points.

 

DeKalb put nine points on the board in the second period, with Bone getting a two and three-pointer, while Aaron Haggard got a three-point shot. Gentry Harpole and Aaron Patterson each had a two-point basket. The Wildcats came on hard with 22 points and a 40-21 halftime lead.

 

Beck scored a pair of two-point baskets in the third period, while Haggard added a three-pointer. The Wildcats continued to steamroll through the game with 25 more points, and a 65-28 lead.

 

Marshall Evins got a three-pointer and a free throw in the fourth period, while Noah Parsley came away with two free throw shots. Trey Jones also had a two-point basket. Livingston sealed their win with 10 additional points, with a final score of 75-36.

 

Parsley and Bone were each two for two on free throws, while Evins was one for two. Beck was zero for one.

 

Just three days later the Tigers were on the road, in Jamestown to battle the York Institute Dragons. The game would be much closer than their match with the Wildcats, but once again the Tigers would fall.

 

DeKalb scored 12 points in the first period, with Beck getting a three-pointer, a two-pointer, and a couple of free throw points. Haggard had a three-point shot, while Bone added a two-pointer. York came away with 13 points and the narrow lead.

 

The Tigers put nine points on the board in the second period, with Patterson taking a three-point basket, a two-pointer, and a pair of free throws. Jonathon Munoz also had a two-point shot. The Dragons got 15 points, and the 28-21 halftime lead.

 

Bone had a three-pointer and a free throw in the third period, while Beck, Haggard, and Harpole each had a two-point basket. The Dragons added to their lead with 12 points, and a score of 40-31.

 

The Tigers scored another 10 points in the fourth period, with Haggard getting a three-pointer, a two-point basket, and a free throw, while Beck and Bone each got a two-pointer. Patterson also added another free throw point. The Dragons scored 18 points, giving them the 58-41 win.

 

Patterson was three for four on free throws, while Beck was two for two. Bone was one for two, while Haggard was zero for one.
