The DeKalb County Tigers Baseball team played two more games last week, getting another district win, but also suffering another season loss.
On April 1, the Tigers were at home where they faced district rival Smith County. The five-inning game proved to be a big win for the team, who came away with a 10-0 victory.
Devin Summers was the winning pitcher, going seven innings and striking out eight. Summers gave up four hits and walked one.
Hitters for DeKalb were Steven Jennings who was 3-4 with one RBI, Aaron Patterson 1-3, and Summers 2-2 with one RBI. Luke Boss was 1-3 with two RBIs, Steven Page was 3-3 with four RBIs, and Ty Curtis who was 1-2 with an RBI.
On April 5, the Tigers traveled to White County where they suffered another defeat, 6-3. The loss may have seemed discouraging, but the Tigers actually played well against a strong AAA team. Coach Tracy Slone upped the team’s competition level this year, by adding some strong non-district games to the schedule.
The Tigers had eight hits and three costly errors, and only gave up one earned run. White County also had eight hits.
For DeKalb, Jennings went 1-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Patterson was 1-3. Boss went 2-3, Page 2-4, Jacob Self 1-4, and John Roller was 1-3 with an RBI.
The losing pitcher was A.J. Mooneyham, who gave up seven hits with five strikeouts, three walks, and one earned run in five innings. Nick Parsley pitched the last inning for the Tigers giving up no runs.
The Tigers are 6-7 overall and 4-2 in district play.
