Thanks to several local businesses, Vanhooser Stadium on the DCHS campus has a new scoreboard and play clocks.
Wilson Bank & Trust, Liberty State Bank, Middle Tennessee Natural Gas and Dr. Timothy Tobitt of the Good Health Family Clinic all helped out with the purchase of a new 24’ x 8’ scoreboard and play clocks on both ends of the field.
Tiger Head Coach Steve Trapp said the new equipment is a great improvement.
“Its an upgrade that has been needed, and I think visually it’s going to impact our crowd,” the coach shared. “It’s a 24’ x 8’ scoreboard, a lot bigger than our old scoreboard. It’s wireless, so we won’t be tripping on wires, and it has LED’s, so we won’t be using light bulbs. Typically that scoreboard is used for fields that have a track, because it sits way off the field, but this scoreboard sits right on the fence. It will be right in our face. Hopefully we can light up that home side all year long,”
Trapp also thanked the people responsible for funding the new board and clocks.
“We want to thank this group of local business leaders and our school system for helping the DeKalb County Football program make this purchase,” he said. “This really all started with our boosters getting some prices on what it would cost to replace our existing scoreboard. Through that process they figured out some ways and opportunities to get some help. Through the contributions of these businesses, Wilson Bank & Trust, Dr. Timothy Tobitt of the Good Health Family Clinic, Middle Tennessee Natural Gas, Liberty State Bank, and the school board helping us out as well, we were able to get all this done without any booster funds so the booster club can use their monies for other things for the football program.”
