The DeKalb County Tiger baseball team looks positioned for a third place regular season finish as they get themselves for the district tournament.
The Tigers look to head into the post
season with some momentum after posting a 10-13 record thus far in the season
with their final regular season game scheduled for April 30 against Monterey.
Helping boost the Tiger confidence was a 12-5 road win over Cumberland County
this past week in which DeKalb outhit their hosts 16 to two and won going away
despite making four fielding errors.
Four in the first and four and the second followed by three in the third were enough to blowout the Jets as the trio of Daniel Pucket, Aiden Curtis and Logan Cornelius combined to fan seven Jets from the hill. Meanwhile Skyler Sparks was in the zone with the stick as he went four-for-five, accounting for three RBIs. Avery South who was two-for-four added three RBIs to the total. Colter Norris swiped two bases in the win.
Their win came after they were nipped by Sequatchie County in Dunlap the game before, 5-3. Two runs in the bottom of the fifth proved to be the Tiger undoing. Derek Young was the only Tiger with multiple hits as he went two-for-three at the plate.
