The DCHS Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball teams were defeated by Upperman Tuesday night in Smithville.
The Lady Tigers fell to the team from Baxter in a 62-38 game, while the Bees won took the Tigers down 75-48.
Upperman outpaced the Lady Tigers 9-7 in the first period, and outscored DeKalb 17-12 in the second to take a 26-19 lead into the locker room at halftime. Upperman scored 16 points in the third, and the Lady Tigers only answered with two, giving Upperman a 42-21 advantage at the beginning of the final period. A 20-17 fourth period in the Lady Bees favor put a bow on a 62-38 win for Upperman.
Macy Hedge led the Lady tiger scorecard with11 points. Emme Colwell and Lydia Brown, who went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, scored seven points each, and Madison Parsley put five in. Joni Robinson and Hannah Panter scored three each, and Kenzie France added two.
The Tigers trailed the Bees 20-8 at the end of the first period of play, and Upperman outscored DeKalb 19-12 in the second for a 39-20 halftime lead. The Bees led a 14-13 third period, and the fourth began with Upperman leading 53-33. The Tigers scored 15 points in the final period, but the Bees scored 22, taking a 75-48 win.
Marshal Evins led the Tiger offense with 13 points, hitting two three-point shots and going three-for-four from the foul line. Tanner Poss and Trey Jones scored eight points each for DeKalb, and Colter Norris and Chandler Vincent put in six each. Gentry Harpole scored four, and Austin Johnson added three for the Tigers.
The two teams will hit the road to face Smith County in Carthage Friday night, with the Lady Tigers tipping off at 6 p.m.
