The DeKalb County Tigers led most of the game against Watertown but failed to hold the lead at the most important stage of the contest – the end – as they fell 60-50 to their district foe.
Led by Dallas Cook who had 12 points on the night, it appeared the Tigers had things in hand as a buzzer beater at the end of the first period gave the home team as 13-10 after one. They would push their advantage to five by half thanks to eight by Evans Jones and eight by Noah Martin on the night. Skies were even brighter by the end of the third stanza as the Tigers saw their biggest lead of the night with Colter Norris throwing in seven on the evening to extend their lead to eight going into the final stanza.
However, the Tigers saw their lead slip away almost immediately in the fourth as Watertown lit up on offense, three of their players finishing the evening with 17 points apiece. The Watertown run ended with a 25-10 domination of the fourth and a 10 point win.
The loss came after the Tigers lost an early lead just days before at Livingston where they fell 83-56 in district action. They went into last night’s district game at Cannon County with a 0-3 district record and at 1-7 overall.
