Sam McMillen hit two singles and a double against York.

 

The DCHS Tigers took control of a doubleheader with York Institute on April 12, taking the Dragons 14-2 in the first game, and winning a 20-0 shutout in the second contest.

 

The Tigers scored 14 runs on 12 hits in the first match up, committing one error. Christian Pruitt put in a single, a double, and a home run for DeKalb. Lee Randolph hit a single and double in the game, while Steven Jennings, John Maynard, Sam McMillen, Jacob Self, Derek Young, Josh Hembree and Colter Norris all singled.

 

Winning pitcher John Maynard struck out seven batters and walked five Dragons, giving up two runs on four hits in five innings on the mound.

 

The Tigers scored 20 runs on 11 hits in the second game of the series. Steven Jennings pounded a triple for the Tigers. Sam McMillen and Jacob Self hit a single and a double each.

 

Brady Hughes and Logan Cornelius both doubled for DeKalb, while John Maynard, Lee Randolph, Derek Young and Colter Norris added singles

 

Steven Jennings pitched a no hit shutout through five innings. He struck out 11 batters and walked three.

 

A much closer game against Warren County on April 14 did not come out as well for the Tigers, who lost 4-3 despite a late-game rally.

 

The Pioneers held DeKalb scoreless until the sixth inning, while putting three on the scoreboard in the first and one in the third. The Tiger defense got a handle on the Pioneers, and an offensive outbreak in the sixth inning yielded two runs, with another coming in the seventh. The tigers still came up one run short, however.

 

DeKalb scored three runs on five hits, committing two errors in the game. Christian Pruitt hit a double for the Tigers, while Steven Jennings, John Maynard, Sam McMillen and Colter Norris all single.

 

Tiger pitcher Sam McMillen spent all seven innings on the mound, giving up four runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked three.

 

The Tigers will travel to face Eagleville at 5 p.m. on April 21, and will play Cannon County in Woodbury at 5:30 p.m. on April 25. Cannon will come to DeKalb to play at 5:30 p.m. on April 26.
