Both DCHS basketball teams suffered losses at the hands of Macon County on senior night Thursday.

 

The Visiting Macon County Tigers took the DeKalb Tigers down in an 81-43 rout.

 

DeKalb trailed Macon 19-8 at the end of the first period, and increased their led to 43-28 at the half. The Macon advantage was at 71-35 after the third period, and the Tigers went on to be defeated by 38 points.

 

Tanner Poss led the DeKalb scoring effort with 11 points, while Gentry Harpole put in nine. Trey Jones, Marshal Evins, and Austin Johnson scored six points each, Chandler Vincent dropped three points in, and Bradley Miller added two.

 

The Macon County Tigerettes led the Lady Tigers 13-11 at the end of the first, and were ahead by only three points at the half, with the score at 21-18. Macon held on to a slim 34-33 lead at the beginning of the fourth, but Macon rallied in the final period to come out on top of a 51-41 game.

 

Joni Robinson led the Lady Tiger scorecard with 16 points, Emme Colwell scored 12, and Hannah Panter put six in. Lydia Brown put three points up in the game, and Sophie Cripps and Nicole Coffey added two each.

 

The regular season winds up Friday night, when the DeKalb travels to Warren County to face the Pioneers at 6 p.m., and district tourney action will begin next week at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville.
