The DCHS Tiger basketball team took the Smith County Owls down 73-63 last Friday in Carthage, while the Lady Owls defeated the Lady Tigers 62-51. Both teams suffered losses at Macon County Tuesday.

 

The Tigers led Smith 24-13 at the end of the first, and increased the margin to 39-27 at the half. The Owls rallied in the third to take a 50-46 lead into the final period, but DeKalb held on to win by ten points.

 

Tanner Poss posted 26 points in the game, hitting four three-point shots and going 5-for-4 from the foul line. Trey Jones followed with 21 points, and Marshal Evins put 13 in for the Tigers. Austin Johnson contributed nine, and Gentry Harpole and Colter Norris scored two points each for DeKalb.

 

The Lady Tigers found themselves trailing Smith County 15-7 at the end of the first, and remained behind 23-18 at halftime. The Lady Owls led 37-30 after the third period, and went on to take the win, 62-51.

 

Macy Hedge led the Lady Tiger scorecard with 15 points, sinking three field goals. Joni Robinson put 11 in for DeKalb, hitting three three-pointers as well. Emme Colwell and Mya Ruch scored nine points each, Maddison Parsley put three in, and Hanah Panter and Lydia Brown scored two points each for the Lady Tigers.

 

Meanwhile, Macon County handed both Tiger teams a loss in Lafayette Tuesday night, defeating the Tigers 63-41, and the Lady Tigers 61-36.

 

The Lady Tigers trailed 14-10 at the end of the first period, and were down 34-19 at the halftime buzzer. DeKalb was behind 44-30 after the third period, and 61-36 when time ran out.

 

Lydia Brown led the Lady tigers with nine points, while Emme Colwell was close behind with eight. Joni Robinson put six in, and Macy Hedge scored five. Sophie Cripps placed four points for DeKalb, Hannah Panter scored three, and Maddison Parsley added one.

 

The Tigers led Macon 11-9 at the end of the first period, but Macon took a 27-18 lead before the half. The Tigers trailed 44-27 after the third, and Macon held on to win the game 63-41.

 

Tanner Poss scored 19 points in the game, Marshal Evins put 11 in, and Gentry Harpole scored seven. Austin Johnson put three, and Trey Jones added one.

 

The Tigers will travel to Murfreesboro Friday night to meet Central Magnet. The Lady tigers will tip off at 6 p.m., and the Tigers’ game will follow.
