

The DeKalb County High School Tigers Soccer team had a busy week, splitting a couple of home games early in the week, then falling on the road.
On Tuesday, April 13, the Tigers were on their home field as they hosted Livingston Academy. DeKalb would get on the board first, with Cameron Miller getting a goal with 20 minutes left the first half, with an assist by Miguel Mata.
Livingston came back, getting a goal with 33 minutes left in the first. They scored again with 35 minutes left in the second half, and would strike one final time with 23 minutes left in the second half. In the end Livingston came away with the 3-1 win. Luke Jenkins had 14 saves in the game.
The following Thursday, the Tigers were back at home, this time taking on Stone Memorial. This match had a better outcome for the home team.
The Tigers dominated in the game, shutting out Stone Memorial 7-0. Cameron Miller struck first with 37 minutes left in the first half, with an assist by Miguel Mata. Four minutes later Brandon Silva had a goal, then Yair Mata hit the net two minutes after that with an assist by Miller. Mata had another goal with 14 minutes left in the first, then Mario Matia scored with one minute left with an assist by Miguel Mata.
The Tigers continued in the second half, with Yair Mata with 27 minutes left in the game, then again with 16 minutes left with an assist by Jonathon Hernandez. DeKalb claimed the 7-0 victory. Luke Jenkins had 19 saves in the game.
The following day the Tigers were on the road, taking on Cumberland County. Once again, it would be a tough game for DeKalb.
Cumberland struck first and had firm control in the first half of the game. The Tigers were shut out of the first half, while Cumberland came away with four goals.
DeKalb finally got things going in the second half, with a goal by Miguel Mata with 12 minutes left in the game, then Brandon Silva found the net with seven minutes left. Yair Mata scored with two minutes left, but it was far from enough. While the Tigers scored three goals in the second half, so did Cumberland. Cumberland would take the 7-3 win. Goalie Jenkins had 15 save in the match.
