The DeKalb County High School Tigers soccer team came away with a couple of big wins last week, shutting out a pair of district teams. The boys dominated both Livingston Academy and White County, allowing not a single goal.
In the Livingston match at home on Tuesday, April 18, Miguel Mata got the Tigers on the board at 38:50 in the first half, then Axel Aranda struck at the 20:13 mark with an assist by Miguel.
It was Miguel again in the second half with 34:50 left to play and an assist by Yair Mata. Miguel struck yet again at 31:32, then Yair hit the net with an assist by Miguel at 2:57.
The Tigers claimed the 5-0 shutout with Goalie Conner Vance getting 12 saves in the game.
The following Thursday, the boys were on the road, traveling to Sparta to face the White County Warriors. It would be another domination for the Tigers.
Cameron Miller got the Tigers on the board in the first half at 36:45 with an assist by Yair Mata, then Yair got his own goal to start the second half at 26:16.
Miguel Mata scored on a penalty kick at 25:04 left to play, followed by a goal by Miguel just 25 seconds later with an assist by Brandon Silva. Silva would find the net at 21:40 with an assist by Jonathon Zavala, then Miguel Mata came away with a goal at 12:57 with an assist by Miller. Silva recorded another goal with 6:56 left to play, with an assist by Miguel, then Miller would top off the score with just 3 second left in the game.
DeKalb took the 8-0 shutout with Vance getting three saves in the match.
