Nearly a month into their season, the DeKalb County High School Tigers Soccer team finally played their opening home game last week, hosting a tough Upperman team. It would be a close game that would be settled in the second half.
On Tuesday, April 6, the Tigers were at long last on their home field facing the Upperman Bees. The Bees would sting first, with Kemto Stepp getting a goal, assisted by Anthony Maccarone 29 minutes into play.
Mario Matias would get the Tigers on the board, assisted by Cameron Miller 39 minutes in the game.
As the game went into the second half, Upperman broke the tie, with J.T. Daniels finding the net, assisted by Ian Mcafee 11 minutes in. That's where the score would stay, Upperman taking the 2-1 win.
Goalie Luke Jenkins had nine saves in the game, while Miguel Mata had four saves.
The Tigers game scheduled for April 8 was cancelled and has been rescheduled for Friday, April 16.
