Tigers soccer first in district

The DCHS Tiger Soccer Team took Watertown down in a 10-1 match on Senior Night April 28.

 

The Tiger offensive effort was bolstered by a goal from Joan Gopar in the fifth minute of play, goals from Cristobal Flores in the 23rd and 28th minutes, and a score from Micah Merriman in the 31st minute. Miquel Rodriguez followed with a goal in the 42nd minute, and Roberto Mata scored one in the 43rd minute.

 

A Micah Merriman assist allowed Dylan Easterwood to put one in the net in the 46th minute of the game, and Bruno Ramirez scored in the 57th minute. Daniel Munoz continued the Tiger rout of the Purple Tigers by dropping one in the net in the 67th minute, and Brandon Chapman rounded out DeKalb’s scoring with a goal in the 71st minute.

 

Goalie Skylar Pease had five saves for the Tiger defense, while Jose Torres recorded one save.

 

The team’s position as first place in the district for the season was wrapped up on April 23, however, when they shut the Livingston Academy Wildcats out in a 2-0 match.

 

Miguel Rodriguez scored a goal in the 21st minute of play, and Cristobal Flores put one in at the 34 minute mark to clinch the victory for DeKalb. Goalie Skylar Pease put eight saves on the books for the Tiger defensive effort.

 

Meanwhile, the soccer Tigers took Macon County down 7-4 on April 21.

 

Miguel Rodriguez scored DeKalb’s first goal in the third minute of the game with an assist from Brandon Leiser. The Tigers struck again in the 10th minute of play with another goal by Brandon Ortega, and Leiser put one in the net in the 18th minute.

 

Cristobal Flores scored in the 35th, 39th and 44th minutes of the game, and Miguel Rodriguez added the final goal for DeKalb in the 46th minute with an assist from Brandon Chapman.

 

Post-season matchups began with the district tournament Monday night on the Tiger’s home-field.
