After adding a 12-9 loss to the books on a road trip to White County on April 16, the DeKalb County Tigers baseball team took the Macon County Tigers down in a 3-1 game in Smithville on April 18.
John Maynard held the mound for seven innings, clocking a win for DeKalb while striking out eight Macon Countians and walking two. Maynard gave up one run and six hits in the contest.
The DeKalb Tigers scored three runs on five hits, with Steven Jennings racking up a double, and Maynard belting two singles to back up his defensive work. Christian Pruitt and Lee Randolph added singles for DCHS.
The black and gold Tigers then traveled to Macon on April 19 for a rematch. The blue and white Tigers turned the tables, however, defeating DeKalb 4-3.
Eagleville took the Tigers down in another close road game on April 21. The final score was 8-6.
The Tigers, 10-14 overall with a district record of 5-5 as of Monday, traveled to Cannon County Monday evening, and hosted the Lions on Tuesday. More on these games in next week’s Review.
Then on April 28, DeKalb the Watertown Purple Tigers will come to Smithville to play. On April 29 DeKalb will travel to Watertown. Both games will begin at 5 p.m.
The Tigers will visit Livingston on April 30 to face Livingston Academy. That game will take place at noon.
Livingston Academy will then make their way to Smithville on May 2 to take the Tigers on at 5 p.m.
The Tigers will conclude the regular season when Riverside Christian comes to town on May 3. That game will begin at 5 p.m. as well.
