The DCHS Tiger baseball team added three wins to the season total with a win against Smith County on April 5 and a sweep of a doubleheader at Trousdale County on April 7. DeKalb took the 5 p.m. game against Trousdale winning 3-1, and the later contest 10-7, and took Smith down in a 7-2 win at Carthage.
The Tigers took the first game with three runs on one hit, a single by Steven Jennings. Sam McMillen got the win on the mound, giving up one run on four hits. He struck out 10 batters and walked one in seven innings.
In the nightcap, Colter Norris got the win for the Tigers, recording nine strikeouts and walking one batter. Norris gave up seven runs and 10 hits in his seven innings on the mound.
The Tigers scored 10 runs on 11 hits, with Christian Pruitt ripping two doubles and Lee Randolph slapping a single and a double. Derek Young and Colter Norris hit two singles each, and Steven Jennings, John Maynard and Jacob Self added a single each.
In the April 5 game at Carthage, the tigers took the Owls 7-2.
Tiger pitcher Steven Jennings struck out 10 batters and walked three in seven innings on his way to the win. Jennings gave up two runs on three hits.
DeKalb County scored seven runs on 11 hits. Steven Jennings jacked three doubles in the game, while Christian Pruitt, Lee Randolph and Josh Hembree hit two singles each. The Tigers committed five errors in the game.
The Tigers came out on the wrong end of a 6-5 game with the Owls on April 4, however.
DeKalb managed to score five runs on three hits, with Steven Jennings and Christian Pruitt hitting timely triples, and Jacob Self slapping a double.
Sam McMillen spent 3-2/3 innings on the mound, giving up five hits, striking out three and walking two. John Maynard came in for 3-1/3 innings, striking out three Owls, hitting two with pitches, and giving up one hit. The Tigers committed three errors in the game.
On Thursday, April 14, the Tigers will host Warren County at 5 p.m. in Smithville, and the team will travel to White County on April 16 to face the Warriors at 5 p.m.
