The DeKalb County High School Tiger baseball team improved their record in district play to 5-4 with an over-all mark of 11-10 with a 7-0 victory of the York Dragons Monday night.
As scattered showers hit Smithville, so did the Tigers’ offense, scattering seven hits while recording five walks. Senior Aaron Patterson led the way offensively going three for four with two RBIs while plateing two runs in the first, second and fourth innings and adding another run in the sixth. The Tigers had no trouble scoring runs but at times could not hit the ball.
"I know we had seven hits, but we did not hit the ball well at all," said Tigers Headcoach Tracy Slone after the game.
"Our defense was solid and starting pitcher Caison Oakley was outstanding on the mound, and that was the difference tonight," he continued.
Senior Caison Oakley had a three-hit complete game shut-out striking out nine batters while allowing no walks to record the win for the Tigers.
Aaron Patterson had two doubles, one single and one RBI. Steven Jennings posted two singles with one RBI while Senior Jacob Washer tallied one single and Sophomore Christian Pruitt belted one double driving in one run for DeKalb.
