On Nov. 18, the Tiger were on the road, taking on a tough team from Boyd Christian.
DeKalb took the lead in the first period, with 14 points on the board, while holding Boyd to 11. Kevin Aldino and Aaron Haggard each had a two and three-pointer in the period, while Justin Bone had a two-point basket.
The Tigers opened up in the second period, with 21 points scored. Isaac Beck had a two-pointer and two three-pointers, while Bone had a two and three-point basket. Seth Wright also had a three-point shot. Boyd came away with 14 points, giving DeKalb a 35-25 lead at halftime.
In the third period, the Tigers added another 20 points, including three three-pointers by Beck, and three two-point baskets by Gentry Harpole. Haggard also had a three-pointer, while Bone had a two-pointer. Boyd outscored the Tigers with 22 points, but DeKalb kept a 55-47 lead.
DeKalb came away with 20 points to close out the game, including three two-point baskets by Bone, a two and three-pointer by Haggard, and two two-pointers by Aldino and Harpole. Boyd was held to 13 points, with DeKalb taking the 75-60 victory.
On Nov. 21, the Tigers were at home, where they faced off with the Pioneers of Warren County High School. It would be a contentious game, with jawing coming from the stands on both sides of the court. The Tigers would fall behind early, but would fight their way back with the match ultimately being decided in overtime.
The Tigers scored nine points in the first period, including a pair of two-pointers by Gentry Harpole. The Pioneers looked as if they might run away with the game, taking 16 points and the lead.
DeKalb got in a rhythm in the second period, scoring 25 points while holding Warren to 14. Aaron Haggard had two three-point baskets, while Isaac Beck and Harpole each had a pair of two-point shots. John Roller also had a two-point basket. DeKalb took the 34-30 lead as the game went into halftime.
The Tigers continued to pull away in the third period, getting 21 points and holding the Pioneers to 18. Beck was the top scorer with three two-point shots, while Kevin Aldino and Harpole each had two. Roller got a three-pointer, while Justin Bone got in on the action with a two-point basket. DeKalb was up 55-48.
The Pioneers always kept close, and in the fourth period they managed to outscore the Tigers and tie the game. Warren scored 18, while keeping DeKalb to 11. Haggard had a pair of two-pointers, while Beck had a three-point shot. Bone also got a two-point basket. At the end of regulation, the score was tied, 66 all.
In overtime, the Tigers came away with 11 points, including a two-pointer by Bone. On defense, DeKalb held Warren to only six, sealing the 77-72 victory.
Beck went nine for 11 on free throws, while Harpole was eight for 10. Aldino was four for five, while Haggard went two for four. Roller and Marshal Evins were each one for two, while Bone was zero for two.
