John Maynard and Colter Norris teamed up to pitch a shutout against Livingston Academy in the first round of District 8AA baseball tournament play.

The Tigers took the Wildcats down in an 8-0 game in Carthage Monday. DeKalb took a 3-0 advantage in the first inning, added three more in the third, and put another two across in the sixth.

The Tigers scored eight runs on twelve hits, while holding LA scoreless on seven hits.

Paxton Butler and Brady Hughes both hit three singles in four at-bats, and Jacob Self, Colter Norris and Lee Randolph smacked a double each. John Maynard collected four singles, and Christian Pruitt contributed a one-bagger.

The Tigers play again today (Tuesday) at 4 p.m. in Smith County.
