The DeKalb West Lady Bulldogs played two games last week, but found scoring a challenge.
On Nov. 12 the Lady Bulldogs hosted Carroll-Oakland. DWS would find scoring difficult in the game, with the girls of Carroll-Oakland outscoring the girls three to one.
The first quarter looked promising, with Lydia Brown getting a two-point shot and keeping the Lady Bulldogs close. Carrol-Oakland had four points.
Savannah Belcher had a two-pointer in the second quarter, but Carroll-Oakland came away with 10 points and a 14-4 lead.
Brown made another two-pointer in the third, while Addison Oakley went one for three on free throws. But Carroll-Oakland turned up the heat, scoring 13 points to the Bulldogs’ three. Carroll-Oakland was up 27-7.
Oakley and Brown each had a two-point shot in the fourth. Carroll-Oakland would only score eight points in the fourth quarter, but it was more than enough to seal the win. Carroll-Oakland came away with the win, 35-11.
On Nov. 14 the Lady Bulldogs were on the road, facing Providence in what would be a tough game for the girls.
Providence came out strong and kept the Lady Bulldogs scoreless through the first half of the game. They would get 12 points in the first quarter and another 10 in the second, giving them a 22-0 lead into the half.
The Lady Bulldogs would not find the hoop until the third quarter, with Addison Oakley getting the only two-pointer of the game. Providence would get six more in the third, giving them a 28-2 lead.
The Lady Bulldogs only other score of the game came from a free throw. Savannah Belcher went one for two, with the final score Providence 32, DWS 3.
