Two DWS Students Place in Top 10

DWS students Leyton Scarbrough and Kaitlyn Swearinger placed in the Top 10 in the Tennessee Tech Math Competition.

Two DeKalb West School students finished in the Top 10 of a recent math competition at Tennessee Tech University. Leyton Scarbrough placed fourth out of 148 eighth-grade students while Kaitlyn Swearinger placed eighth out of 140 seventh graders.

Four students from each of the sixth, seventh and eighth grades at DWS traveled to the TTU Middle/High School Math Competition with eighth-grade math teacher Dwayne Blair on April 7. Representing DeKalb West School from the sixth grade were Gabriel Blair, Josh Floyd, Tori Harbaugh, and Kaden Mullinax; from the seventh grade—Swearinger, Porter Hancock, Autumn Crook and Sophie Desimone; from the eighth grade—Scarbrough, Ethan Brown, Jesse Foutch and Ben Driver.
