The Tigerette bats were silent Thursday
afternoon as the Warren County Lady Pioneers completed a sweep of their border
battle, blanking DeKalb 6-0.

The Tigerettes got behind early after
Rhealee Johnson slapped an RBI single to give the visitors the lead. The DeKalb
girls were hoping for a measure of revenge after opening their season with an
11-1 loss in McMinnville but the payback was not to be as a Hailey Wood triple
in the second inning put the Lady Pioneers up 3-0. The Warren County offensive
output was helped by three DeKalb fielding errors while the Lady Pioneers were
perfect from the field. Sadie Simmons pitched the shutout win for Warren
County, going all seven innings, surrendering five hits while fanning three
Tigerettes.
For the home standing Tigerettes, Kenzie
France, coming off an excellent performance against Cannon County earlier in
the week, gave up eight hits and four earned runs during her 3.1 innings of
work from the circle. She was relieved by Madison Whitehead who went the rest
of the way, pitching shutout ball while walking just one batter.

However, despite Whitehead’s shutdown
work, the Tigerettes were unable to mount a viable offense as only Kenzie
France had a multiple hit day, going two-for-three from the dish, including a
double.

The Lady Pioneers added two more runs in
the third and one in the fourth to seal the deal with Gracie Rains and Calyn
Damon went two-to-four to lead Warren County.
The loss drops the Tigerettes to 2-5 on
the season. They next play host York April 1 before going to Upperman April 2
and then to Watertown April 3.
