Five students from DeKalb West made the cut for the 2013-2014 baseball team during try-outs this month. Eighth-graders Brady Driver, Jessie Smith, and Paxton Butler return along with seventh-graders Grayson Redmon and Garrett Driver.
DeKalb Middle School Saints football coach Tad Webb will be coaching the 17-member DWS Dawgs this season. The seventh-grade math teacher was the assistant coach of the high school baseball team under Head Coach Scott Odom, and has been managing the pigskin plays for the Saints for about six years.
A former high school baseball player in the mid 90s, Webb is building his own team at home. He and his wife, Tracy, have three sons, Tucker, Ty and recently born Tate.
