It’s seven in a row for the hottest team in DeKalb County as the West Bulldogs topped Avery Trace 5-1 Monday night as their season nears a close.
A three run, second inning proved to be
the winning edge for the red hot middle school squad as they were able to put
away their Cookeville visitors despite only having three hits on the game. Ean
Jones accounted for two of those hits as he had two doubles. Gabe Hollingsworth
had the other hit, that too being a two bagger. The Bulldogs surrendered their
lone run in the fourth but made up for it by getting two of their own in the
bottom of the inning.
While outhitting the Bulldogs, Avery Trace had an Achilles Heel in the field as they committed four errors while their pitching staff put three West players on base despite fanning five on the afternoon. Meanwhile the pitching tandem of Brayden Carter and Konnor Young were stingy from the mound, giving up just one walk and striking out two. Carter worked four inning and was credited with the win.
