Wet and weary
Tigers roughed up on rainy night

DCHS QB Tyler Cantrell scrambles to get his pass off Friday during a rainy-night game as the Tigers played host to the Stone Memorial Panthers at VanHooser FIeld.

The DCHS TIgers (0-3) played host to Stone Memorial Friday night, and the Panthers seemed to handle the wet-weather squall better as they defeated DeKalb 38-16.
Stone Memorial held a 30-point lead after three quarters, leading 38-8 going into the fourth. DeKalb's David Bradford cut into that deficit with a 35-yard TD run with 10:00 left and QB Tyler Cantrell added two more with a keeper for the final score of 38-16.
DeKalb’s David Bradford got the Tigers on the board at 5:26 in the third quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run. Cantrell made it 32-8 with the conversion.
"We're seeing a lot of the same stuff that we've been seeing,," said DeKalb head football coach Steve Trapp. "Missed execution, missed alignment, not tackling very well with their big plays coming on third-and-long situations … that's unacceptable. There's a lot of bad football being played right now. I think our guys are playing hard, but we're just not playing good football. Second half we did start moving the ball a little bit but if we could stand out in the huddle with them like Junior Pro coaches they'd be OK and that goes back to the experience and all the new people that are out there right now."
"Stone didn't show us anything we didn't work on, so it's disappointing to see some of the mistakes they are making and when you see them do it right how well it looks," Trapp said. "That's what we'll focus on - what it looks like when we do things right - and try to keep learning. We're going to keep coaching to lift these guys up and they're going to continue to play hard and all we can hope for is for it to click."
The Tigers travel to Watertown Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
