The DCHS Tiger basketball team dropped two games last week, one to Livingston Academy on Tuesday, and one to York Institute on Friday.
The York Dragons took a 53-41 win over the Tigers Friday at DCHS.
DeKalb trailed 11-10 after a tight first period, and after an 11-9 second period The Dragons led 22-19 at halftime. York’s lead increased to 40-30 after an 18-11 third period. A 13-11 final period put DeKalb down by two more points, and the Dragons led 53-41 at the final buzzer.
Tanner Poss and Marshal Evins each scored 14 points each for DCHS. Poss hit four three-pointers, while Evins went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line and dropped in three three-pointers, a two-pointer and went 3-for-4.
Gentry Harpole followed closely with 13 points. Harpole was good for five two-pointers and a three-point shot.
The Tigers dropped a 56-38 road game at Livingston Academy Tuesday night.
The Wildcats opened strong, besting DeKalb 20-8 in the first period. Livingston took a 32-20 lead into the half after a 12-12 second period.
DeKalb scored seven points in the third period, allowing Livingston to put 15 on the board, giving LA a 47-27 lead after the third period. The Tigers outpaced the Wildcats 11-9 in the fourth, not enough to make up the deficit.
Gentry Harpole showed the Tiger offense the way with 23 points in the game. Marshal Evins scored seven, while Tanner Poss and Austin Johnson had three points each and Trey Jones added two.
The Tigers hosted Upperman Monday evening in a makeup game from Jan. 22, and traveled to Macon County last night. They will host Smith County, with the Lady Tigers tipping off at 6 p.m. Friday evening, and Gordonsville will visit DCHS Saturday at 6 p.m. More on these games in next week’s Review.
