On Jan. 6, the Tigers were at home where they took on the Smith County Owls. It would be a good night for DeKalb County fans.

 

The Tigers came out in the first period with 13 points. Isaac Beck scored two two-point baskets and a three-pointer, while Justin Bone, Gentry Harpole, and Aaron Patterson each had a two-point shot. The Owls came away with 11 points, giving DeKalb a slim lead.

 

DeKalb found the hoops in the second period, scoring 19 points. Beck had two two-pointers, two three-pointers, and a free throw point, while Harpole had three two-point baskets. Bone also had a two-pointer. Smith County was held to 10, giving the Tigers a 32-21 halftime lead.

 

The Tigers turned up the heat in the third period, scoring 26 points. Bone had five two-point baskets and two free throw points, while Aaron Haggard had a pair of three-pointers. Beck had a couple of two-pointers and two free throws, while Harpole got a two-pointer of his own. The Owls tried to stay close, scoring 22 points. DCHS held a 58-43 lead.

 

Smith County was on fire in the fourth period, scoring 26 points. For DeKalb, Beck scored a two-point basket, a three-pointer, and five free throw points, while Harpole got a two-pointer and a free throw. Kevin Aldino and Patterson each had a two-point basket. DeKalb scored 17, more than enough for the 75-69 victory.

 

Beck went four for seven on free throws, while Bone was two for two. Harpole was one for two, while Aldino was zero for one. Patterson was zero for two.

 

On Jan. 9, the Tigers were again in action, this time in Murfreesboro to take on a tough team from Central Magnet. The game stayed close with the Tigers eventually coming out on top, 57-46.

 

The Tigers fell behind in the first period by one point, 10-9, but came back to lead by one point before the half, 26-25.

 

In the third period DeKalb opened up and gained a 10-point lead, 40-30, then continued their drive to win, 57-46.

 

Patterson scored 16 points in the game, while Bone had 14. Beck came away with with nine points, Haggard and Harpole each had six, Aldino got four, and Marshall Evins with ended the game with two points.
