The DeKalb West School Bulldogs were back in action last week with two games, one on the road and another at home. Both games would see the Bulldogs coming away with wins.
On Nov. 17, the Bulldogs traveled to Woodbury where they came away with a big win.
DeKalb West took the lead in the first period, scoring seven points and holding Woodbury to four. Dallas Cook had a couple of two-point baskets, while Grayson Redmon came away with a three-pointer.
The Bulldogs only scored four points in the second period, but increased their lead by holding Woodbury to only three. Redmon had a pair of two-pointers in the period, putting DWS up 11-7 at halftime.
DWS pulled away in the third period with 11 points, including another pair of two-pointers by Redmon and Dillon Sullivan. Woodbury came away with only four points, giving DeKalb West a 22-11 lead.
Redmon, Cody Antoniak, Noah Roberts, and Braiden Antoniak each had two-point baskets in the fourth, adding eight more points to the scoreboard. Woodbury surged with 11 points, but DWS held on for the 30-22 victory.
Sullivan was two for four on free throws, while Garrett Driver went one for two.
The following day, the Bulldogs were back at their home court, this time taking on a team from Auburntown.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a big lead in the first period, getting 10 points and holding Auburntown to three. Redmon had two two-point shots, while Sullivan had one.
DWS poured it on in the second period, scoring another 14 points, while defensively holding Auburntown to a goose egg. Grayson scored four two-pointers, while Cook and Driver each had a two-point shot of their own. The Bulldogs were up 24-3 at the half.
Redmon had a three-point shot in the third, adding to the Bulldogs’ five points scored in the period, while Auburntown had eight. DWS was still in the lead, 29-11.
Cook scored the only two points for the Bulldogs in the fourth period, while Auburntown made a bit of a comeback, scoring 13. It was not enough. DWS took the 31-24 win.
Redmon was six for 10 on free throws, while Cook was two for four. Sullivan was zero for two.
