The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints took to the court last week, traveling on the road to take on the Cornerstone Lady Yellowjackets in Baxter.
The Lady Saints had ten points in the first quarter, while Cornerstone came away with 14. Macy Hedge had two three-pointers and one two-point shot, while Abbi Taylor had one two-pointer.
Cornerstone continued to pull away in the second quarter, getting 20 points to DeKalb’s 14. Julia Curtis had three two-point shots, while Hedge got another three-pointer. Abby Evans and Sophie Cripps each had a two-point shot. Cornerstone had a ten-point lead going into the half, 34-24.
Both teams would match scores in the third quarter, each getting five points. Hedge had a two-point shot, with other points coming off of free throws. The Lady Yellowjackets kept a 10-point lead, 39-29.
DeKalb narrowed the lead in the fourth, but it would not be enough. The Lady Saints got 13 points, with Madison Parsley getting a two and three-pointer, and Joni Robinson getting two three-pointers, but Cornerstone came away with 11 points and the win, 50-42.
Parsley would go three for eight on free throw attempts, while Robinson and Hedge were one for two. Evans was one for one, with Hannah Anderson going zero for two. Taylor was zero for one attempt.
