The 2017 youth league football Tigers opened their season with a Western Jamboree in Algood Saturday, facing the White County Warriors.At the final whistle, they went 1-1-1 getting some excellent preseason workouts.Pee Wee DivisionDeKalb County 14White County 0Preston Taylor put the Tigers on the board to give DeKalb a 6-0 edge, then scampered in with the PAT behind some good blocking by the O-line for the 7-0 score, allowing coach Toby Nokes to play his bench.Not to be outdone, Collin Donnell found some open space midfield late in the second half, going 50 yards for the TD and Matt Orcutt Jr. added two more to the final tally.Defensively, the Tigers were able to hold White County with good backfield penetration.“We still have room for improvement,” said coach Nokes. “We won so I can’t fuss too much.
