The official calendar for the 2013-2014 DeKalb County school year was formally adopted at the regular monthly meeting of the school board Thursday night.The meeting was held at DeKalb West School.•July 29 will be a system-wide professional development day at DCHS from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.•All teachers will report to their individual schools on July 30-31 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.•Registration for all students will be held on Aug. 1.That will be an abbreviated school day from 7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.•Aug. 2 will be an administrative day for teachers only.•Aug. 5 will be the first full day of school for all students.•Students will not attend on Labor Day, Sept. 2.•Schools will be closed for fall break Oct. 14-25.•Students will be off for the Thanksgiving holiday, Nov. 27-29.•Dec. 20 will be an abbreviated day, as well as the last day students attend before winter break.•Students will return after the holidays on Jan. 6.•Schools will be closed for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jan. 20Schools will be closed for President's Day on Feb. 17.•Spring break is set for March 24-28.•Students will not attend on Good Friday, April 18. •Memorial Day will be observed on May 26.•Oct. 4, Feb. 14, March 7 and March 21 are designated as early release dates.•Students will not attend on Tuesday, May 27. It will be an administrative day and all teachers must attend.•May 28 will be the last day of school. It will be an abbreviated school day and report cards will be sent home.•Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Oct. 8 and March 11 at DeKalb County High School from 3-6 p.m.•Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Oct. 10 and March 13 at DeKalb Middle School, Northside Elementary, Smithville Elementary, and DeKalb West School.•DCHS report cards will be sent home on Oct. 7, and at all other schools on Oct. 8.•Report cards will be sent home from all schools on Jan. 7.•DCHS report cards to be sent home on March 10, and at all other schools on March 11.•ACT testing for the 11th grade will be held on March 4.•Writing Assessment for the 5th, 8th, and 11th grades will be Feb. 3-7.•TCAP testing of elementary students will be April 28 through May 9.
