Alexandria man arrested for stealing batteries

An Alexandria man has been arrested by the Sheriff’s Department and charged with stealing batteries from a Hales Lane residence on three separate occasions.Shane Nerod Miller, 29, is accused of three counts of theft of property under $500 in the case. Sheriff Patrick Ray reports that Miller went to the same residence on Hales Lane on Aug. 2, 4, and 8, stealing several batteries valued at less than $500 on each trip.He then allegedly sold the batteries to a local recycler.According to the sheriff, Miller sold 816 pounds on the first trip to the recycler, 503 pounds on the second, and 405 pounds on the last sale.His bond totals $3,000 and he will be in court on Oct. 13.Terry Rayborn Collins was arrested on Aug. 8 and charged with theft of property over $1,000. Collins allegedly took a 1990 Dodge pickup valued at over $1,000 from a Holmes Creek Road residence and sold it to a salvage yard.His bond is $5,000 and he will be in court on Aug. 18.Meanwhile, 24-year-old Monty Lee Slatten, Jr. and Sarah Rachelle Bumbalough, 22, are both charged with vandalism under $500 and burglary.
