The sheriff’s department arrested a convicted felon last week after she was allegedly found to be in possession of a weapon and a bag of marijuana.

Natalie Gail Barrett, 24, was charged with illegal carrying or possession of a weapon and bringing contraband into a penal institution, as well as being cited for driving on roadways laned for travel, on Jan. 26.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, after a deputy spotted a vehicle traveling in the middle of Snow Hill Road a traffic stop was conducted. The driver of the vehicle, Barrett, reportedly gave the officer consent to search her car, and a .22 caliber revolver was found wrapped up inside a bag on the back seat.

Ray said Barrett, who allegedly admitted that the bag was hers, has a felony conviction for a 2012 Schedule I drug offense. She was placed under arrest and brought to the jail, but while being booked, a correctional officer asked Barrett if she had anything on her person.

Barrett allegedly replied “yes,” and produced a small bag containing a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, from the front of her pants.

Her bond was set at $10,000, and her court date is Feb. 16.

Dustin Allen Sullivan, 22, has been charged with failure to appear, possession of methamphetamine, and resisting arrest.

Ray said a detective and a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Cecil Hale Road in Smithville on Jan. 27, and found Sullivan to be a passenger in the vehicle. He reportedly had active warrants against him, and was asked several times by the detective to step outside the vehicle, but refused.

Sullivan was forcibly removed from the car as he continued to resist. Sullivan was handcuffed and taken to jail. During the arrest the officers allegedly found a small baggie containing a crystal-like substance which weighed .08 grams and field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Sullivan’s bond totals $10,000 on the possession and resisting charges, and he is being held without bond for the failure to appear. His court date on the failure to appear charge is Feb. 24 and he will appear on Feb. 16 to face the other charges.

Ricky L. Shehane, 52, was charged with filing a false report and resist, stop, frisk, halt, arrest, or search on Jan. 23.

The sheriff said deputies were sent to a Wade Street home to serve arrest warrants on Clint Shehane, 31, for two failure to appear offenses. While knocking on the door, the deputies reportedly saw Clint Shehane moving about inside the house.

After making entry, the officers spoke to Ricky Shehane and asked for Clint. Ricky allegedly told them that he did not know where Clint was, and asked why the officers were in his home. The deputies reportedly replied that they were there to arrest Clint, and Ricky asked if they had a search warrant. The officers responded that they had a warrant for Clint’s arrest, and Ricky again denied knowing Clint’s whereabouts.

Clint was subsequently found in Ricky’s bedroom closet. While deputies were attempting to place Ricky under arrest for giving false information he reportedly refused to comply with their commands to put his hands behind his back. The officers were able to get his right hand cuffed from the front though he continued to resist.

Ricky’s bond was set at $3,000, and his court date is Feb. 9.

Clint’s bond totals $4,000, and he will appear in court on the two failure to appear warrants on Feb. 9 and April 6.

Ryan Lee Walden, 33, was cited for simple possession of a Schedule IV drug (Alprazolam) and a Schedule II drug (methamphetamine) on Jan. 27.

Ray said a deputy pulled a vehicle over on Bryant Street in Smithville and found Walden inside. After receiving consent to search, the officer reportedly found a small container holding .05 grams of a white substance believed to be methamphetamine and two blue pills thought to be Alprazolam.

His court date is February 16.
