BARTON

Jack Barton has announced his resignation after serving as President and Coordinator of the Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree and Crafts Festival as its President and Coordinator for almost nine years.

Barton, in a letter to the Jamboree board, said that though his personal and professional commitments had become too prevalent for him to maintain the festivals helm, he will be glad to serve as a board member. Barton wrote that he had the utmost confidence that the board would work together to continue their efforts in putting on the event. He said that he was grateful to have served as the leader of such a fine organization, and wished much success for the festival in the future.

Barton, also a Third District county commissioner, started out in a volunteer position in 2004, and named president and coordinator in 2008.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with this year’s 46th Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree and Crafts Festival Jamboree may reach the Jamboree at (615) 597-8500 or by message on Facebook. This year’s event is set for June 30 on the courthouse square in Smithville.
