Biker airlifted after tangling with semi
bike II

A motorcyclist from Goodlettsville was airlifted after being struck in the rear by an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Broad Street and South Congress Boulevard Thursday morning.

According to Trooper Bobby Johnson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Charles Walker, 59, was stationary in the eastbound lane on Broad Street on his 2014 BMW motorcycle when the 2015 Freightliner, driven by 51-year-old Dean Kinney of Alberta Canada, hit the bike from behind. The trooper told the Review that Kinney had dropped a load in Lebanon, and was headed to Warren County to reload.

Walker was treated by DeKalb EMS at the scene, then airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Kinney, who was not injured, was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care.

Members of the Smithville Police Department and Smithville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
