The DeKalb County Board of Education voted Monday night to ask the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) to consult on a plan to choose a new director of schools.

The board held a workshop at 6 p.m. before conducting a special-called meeting at 7 p.m. The board voted to ask the TSBA to provide a consultation service the association offers at no charge to the county.

According to board policy, a process for choosing a new director before the search begins. The policy requires that a job description, a timeline, a process for accepting and reviewing applications, and selection procedures be decided upon.

Board policy allows the board to choose to allow an interim director to apply for the job, but does not allow a board member to be a candidate. Dr. Danielle Collins is currently serving as interim director.
