Gift cards great Christmas present for all
BizInc Red Rider BB Gun

Ok, this week Business, Inc. takes a holiday.

Well, not literally but since we’re in the crux of our Christmas shopping fever I thought it might be a good time to take a look at what people want this year, and – more importantly – what they might get as I know I’m on a budget. I don’t know about you.

If you read my other column this week, you know I feel strongly the biggest gift I’ve ever received is the free salvation from Jesus Christ. That’s first and foremost I want to keep in my heart this year. Buying gifts for loved ones and friends helps us to emulate the giving our wonderful God has given us and that is how I lay down my priorities.

Hopefully, you might find some of my gift ideas handy as well too.

As a big fan of the movie “A Christmas Story” the scene where the Dad, Old Man Parker played by Darren McGavin gets a can of Simoniz is great. Don’t we have a tendency to get gifts like this sometimes? The kids throw their clothes over their shoulder as soon as they open them. How many of you get the same aftershave or tie every year? I think I still have one of my aunt’s fruitcakes holding up the corner of my sofa where the leg fell off.

Of course Ralphie kept running into the every Mom’s objection to his coveted Christmas request, the Red Ryder BB gun with “You’ll shoot your eye out” being the objection. Of course we all know we would rather have the BB gun than a pair of socks.

So this year, forget the aftershave and Simoniz. A better solution is the gift card. After all who doesn’t like to pick out what they really like for Christmas? You never have to worry about getting the right size and most kids have their own cell phones from the age of 10 where they can use gift guards to get games and other things.

Adults like gift cards too. Don’t ask me what women want for Christmas. I usually buy chocolate covered cherries. Guys like gadgets and there’s so many to pick from these days, and you can use a gift card here too.

Postal carriers and barbers like gift cards too, and you don’t even have to wrap them … what a deal!
